Technology
Technology at the Sherman School is utilized by grades K-8. Sherman has a 25 iMac computer lab, which is used by grades K-5 once a week. The middle school students use the lab twice every 6 days. The software used in the lab is varied from KidPix Deluxe to Photo Booth to the iWork’s Suite. Keyboarding is taught starting in 1st grade. Technology is integrated throughout the curricula.
In addition to the stationary lab, we also have two mobile labs that are circulated throughout the school. These labs are primarily used in grades 3-8, as well as, the special areas. Eight SMARTboards are utilized in classrooms and in the computer lab.
In K-5, Sherman students use technology in many different ways. For example, they create presentations for Social Studies and Science, compose documents for Language Arts, and utilize graphics to enhance assignments.
In Middle School technology, the students learn to: blog, create movies and podcasts, create presentations, use word processing applications, prepare spreadsheet for graphing, create and post webpages, and navigate and search the internet safely.
